Cellist Hee-Young Lim has established as one of the most charismatic cellists of her generation. She earned critical acclaims for her evocative performances to audience around the world.

In recent years, she has appeared with numerous prominent orchestras including the Deutsche Berlin Chamber Orchestra, the Budapest Radio Philharmonic, the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra, the Jenaer Philharmonie, the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra, Baden-Baden Philharmonie, the Plock Symphony Orchestra in Poland, the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, the Houston Symphony Orchestra, the Seoul Symphony, the Korean Chamber Orchestra, the Incheon Symphony, the Chungju Philharmonic, the Sungnam Philharmonic Orchestra, Wonju Philharmonic, Korean-American Youth Orchestra and among others. Ms. Lim has been the featured guest artist on the Korean Radio Broadcasting station, WETA, WFMT, KUHF, RTKK, and Polski radio.

Upcoming performances in the 17/18 season include engagements as soloist with Samsung's Rising Star recital, Kumho Artist recital in Korea, Weimar HFM Orchestra (Shostakovich Cello Concerto no.1), Concert Tour in Indonesia and recitals in the United States.

Born in Seoul, she was accepted to the Pre-College division of Korean National University of Arts and Yewon Arts School that awarded her for excellence in Music and the most distinguished Alumni achievement Award.

She entered the Korean National University at age 15 where she was the youngest student ever to be accepted. She moved to the United States to further her education at the New England Conservatory. Upon graduation at NEC, she went on to study at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in Philippe Muller's class where she graduated with highest distinction. (mention très bien à l'unanimité) She is also a graduate of Hochschule für Musik «Franz Liszt» Weimar, earned Konzertexamen degree "mit auszeichnung" (Summa cum laude)

Hee-Young has been appointed as the Principal Solo Cellist of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra under Yannick Nézet-Séguin, after 4years of long vacancy of this position. She was the first female asian cellist ever to win such positions in one of major orchestras in Europe.

Hee-Young represents GEWA from 2017/18 season. As a devoted educator, she has given master classes in Seoul, Ewha University, Beijing Central Conservatory, Paris Reuil-Malmaison Conservatoire, and Jakarta University.

She is passionate about supporting handicapped students in Korea with the Beautiful Mind Charity and a local music school with concerts and educational projects In co-operation with the Benares School Foundation in Netherlands and India.
