GEWA UP380 WK REVIEW BY BONEDO

DISCOVER THE WOODEN CORE!

The Gewa UP380 WK is a high-quality, robust instrument with an appealing sound and many functions at

a reasonable but suitable price. Some might also like the „Made in Germany“ label, simply for the feeling of not having an instrument from an unnamed production line in Shenzhen, where refrigerators are produced on Mondays and bicycles are put together on Wednesdays; these instruments are produced in a traditional company from the scenic Vogtland region of Germany. GEWA has respectably developed an internationally competitive product here with a pragmatic approach.

It has been well thought out:

The excellent, playable keyboard, the comprehensive functional features with midi player, recording function, Bluetooth audio unit and extensive sound tuning. Also

– and especially – the multi-samples from a specially selected Steinway grand piano, which gives this digital piano an individual character. There is still a bit of room for improvement in terms of speaker balance: here, the frequency curve could be a bit more like the modern ‘bath tub’ shape with more bass and treble and a bit less mid-range.

PROS

Piano sound full of character

High quality keyboard

Very robust workmanship

Large range of functions

CONS

Centre resonance of the housing

No muffling sound of the strings

Bulbous mid-range sound of the integrated speakers
