How did you get to open your store? What is the story behind it?
It all started 35 years ago now: Heiko Bellon founded "Six + Four" as a pure guitar and bass store with a starting capital of four used guitars and just as many amplifiers (including his own) in his grandfather's former garage. Word of his expertise and dedicated service quickly spread through the scene, and so the improvised shop became a focal point for guitarists and bassists from the region. The company name is therefore more or less "obvious": How many strings does the guitar have, how many the bass?
Which highlights in your store would you like to tell us about?
"On 28.01.2012 the Six+Four team celebrates the inauguration of the new building and is proud of the now largest music store in the region. Significantly more selection is presented in bright, friendly premises. The assortment is expanded to include a DJ department, a lighting department, a digital piano display, and a high-end guitar room.
With the newly designed service department, where both electronics and guitar repairs are performed, and the significantly enlarged logistics center, the Six + Four team grows to over 15 employees.
Once a year our music fair/ bourse takes place with international attendance.
This year's date is Sunday 04.11.2022!"
Why do you sell Ovation Guitars and what do you think is unique about this brand?
"In my youth and as a fan of Al di Meola and also Siggi Schwab, I can still remember that the Ovation was somehow a "dream" of mine.
The real unique selling point of Ovation guitars is not the material for the body. What distinguishes these guitars is the fact that you - if you show up with such a thing with other guitarists - immediately has a fruitful topic of conversation. You can easily spend whole evenings talking about them."
